    Interests include skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, mole scanning (digital dermoscopy and SIAscopy) and non-invsaive imaging (research); cutaneous laser therapy (Sk;n Sutton Hospital, but patients can be referred to St Anthony's for assessment), with special interest in vascular lesions (including portwine stains in children and adults, and other birthmarks such as epidermal naevi; lymphangiomata-largest series of carbon dioxide laser cases in UK).

    Academic achievements cover education of undergraduate students (Clinical Sub-Dean 2001-2007), and GPs (acclaimed Dermatology Guidelines now in 3rd edition and available to all GPs on request). External examiner at Hertfordshire University 2010- (Dermatology module), and MD examiner (East Anglia University 2011). Superviser of MD thesis (reflective ultrasound imaging of pigmented lesions. D Rallan. 2008). Over 50 peer reviewed papers covering skin cancer, laser therapy and non-invasive imaging.

    Future career developments involve Royal Marsden Hospital, where 2 clinics per week will be offered from 2011, again with a special interest in skin cancer, but also in cutaneous manifestations of cancer and its treatments.

    Dr Colin A Holden is a consultant dermatologist with over 20 years experience managing all types of skin diseases including skin cancer. He also provides the children's dermatology service.

    His particular interest is caring for patients suffering from severe skin rashes such as psoriasis and eczema. He supervises the allergy testing of eczema and the light treatment of psoriasis.

    Professional career
    Dr Holden was appointed consultant dermatologist to Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust in 1986. Since then he has had an active role in developing the dermatology service within the Trust and also been very active regionally and nationally as secretary to the British Association of Dermatologists, secretary to the British Skin Foundation and advisor to the National Eczema Society, the Psoriasis Association and the All Party Parliamentary Group on Skin. He has had the honour to be president of the British Association of Dermatologists (the national body governing UK dermatologists).
